Lecturer Gizem Bolcal Er shared her Erasmus experience with our students in ILC today

The first ILC Speaking Clubs for Fall 1 have started this week for ALL levels. Our Fulbright lecturers from the USA, Ollie Radovic and Elisa Shaholli will be with us for these sessions.Hope to see you there😊

Sarah Karaman, a native English speaker from America, shared her experience in an intercultural marriage and talked about the cultural differences between Türkiye and the USA with our students.

Lect. Nida Fidanboy shared her Erasmus experience in Slovenia including some information about the country’s demographic profile, history and culture of the country with great interest of our students.

Thanks to Lect. Kadriye Dimici’s talk, students had the chance to share their opinions on gender by speaking English. It was an active discussion that also focused on cultural differences in terms of gender.

Students were given a list of questions to go through in 10  minutes (2 - 5 minute increments) in order to learn more about their partner. After the time ended, students switched partners and repeated this cycle for four rounds. While the main goal of this activity was to improve their conversational speaking skills, it also allowed students to utilise their listening and reading skills.

Thanks to Lecturer Çiler Akkuşoğlu, our students gained an understanding of some important strategies while making effective presentations.

ILC was delighted to host the photographer and traveller, Mickael Melis on 1st November 2022.  Sharing his Professional photos taken from different countries of the world with our Prep students, Melis talked about his own journey of photograpy and the stories behind some of his photos. He also gave tips about how to take a Professional photo. His French and Italian origin and life in Newcastle for 17 years were also engaging for the students.

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page” said Saint Augustine Lecturers Ezgi Çetin and Nazlı Civelekoğlu shared their experiences on two different countries in the world, South Korea and Denmark with SFL students. With this talk, students had a chance to discover the different cultures, cuisines and customs of Seoul and Copenhagen.

İzmir Katip Çelebi Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu, üniversiteler arası Trivia Quiz yarışmasında öğretim görevlileri Nazlı Civelekoğlu, Sündüz Belce, Karolina Krzesniak, Vildan Sakarkaya ve Anıl Çobanoğlunun katılımları ve üstün performanlsarıyla 3. oluşmuştur.  

2022 İzmir Triva Quiz gecesinde, Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu öğrencilerimiz Çağla Kaynar, Melike Polat, Habib Şener ve Mehmet Akpınar okulumuzu başarı ile temsil etmişlerdir.
