PDU Session on "Meaning, Creativity, and the Machine Friend: A Practical Deep Dive in AI"
On 18 February, lecturers from the School of Foreign Languages at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University participated in an engaging professional development training titled “Meaning, Creativity, and the Machine Friend: A Practical Deep Dive in AI,” delivered by Burak Aydın from Oxford University Press. The session offered a practical exploration of how artificial intelligence can support language teaching and learning. Focusing on the relationship between meaning-making, creativity, and technology, the training introduced lecturers to innovative ways of integrating AI tools into classroom practices while maintaining pedagogical purpose and learner-centeredness. Through hands-on examples and interactive discussions, participants examined how AI can be used to design materials, generate ideas, personalize learning tasks, and enhance both teacher efficiency and student engagement. The workshop also encouraged critical reflection on the ethical and effective use of technology in education.
