Teaching creates learning when students and teachers are into it and in harmony. Therefore, “Teaching the Learner” by Burak Aydın is a certificate course which aims to yield insights as to how to maximize learning for students, well-being for teachers and quality of life in the classroom. This project course is hosted by İzmir Katip Çelebi University and conducted in conjunction with Çiğli District Directorate of National Education. There are twelve K-12 English teachers as the participants of the course. It will last for 5 weeks (from 7 March to 8 April – as one session day a week) and will include input sessions, demo lessons, reflections, case studies and follow-up practice teaching. The first day of the course was today and teachers enjoyed getting to know each other, setting goals for themselves, discussing the use of coursebooks and identifying the logistics of the course ahead. There is surely more to come, more to learn!
