PDU Session: Reflective Group Discussion Module 3 (Intermediate)
On 22 April 2026, Intermediate level lecturers of IKCU SFL gathered for a reflective group discussion session focusing on the Intermediate level programme, organized by the Professional Development Unit (PDU). The session was structured around interactive and reflective activities designed to foster professional growth and collaborative learning. Through a “Think–Pair–Share” activity, lecturers critically examined the impact of professional development practices on learner autonomy, reflected on shifts in their teaching approaches, and discussed how ongoing reflective practices—such as observations and group meetings—have influenced and reshaped their instructional strategies. Participants also engaged in introspective tasks that encouraged them to articulate key insights gained from recent training and classroom experiences. A “Battery Check” activity invited lecturers to assess their current energy levels and reflect on the types of support they need from their professional community, highlighting the importance of collegial solidarity and well-being. Using the “Rose–Thorn–Bud” framework, lecturers shared successes from the academic year, identified challenges that required adaptive strategies, and outlined areas for future development. This was complemented by a forward-looking reflection titled “Advice to My September Self,” where participants distilled practical guidance based on their accumulated experience. The session concluded with a moment of appreciation, emphasizing shared professional values such as resilience, continuous learning, collegial support, and a strong commitment to student-centered teaching. Overall, the meeting provided a supportive and reflective environment that reinforced both individual and collective growth within the teaching community.
